The researchers conducted a study that measured how many calories people burn when they walk and run. 12 men and 12 women participated in this research and they had to be walking and running ran on a treadmill for 1.6 km. Men burned an average of 124 kcal while running and 88 kcal while walking. Meanwhile, women burned 105 kcal while running and 74 kcal while walking. It should be noted that the number of calories burned by men is higher due to the higher body weight.

In the study, the number of actually burned calories for men were 105 kcal. while running and 52 kcal. While walking. The numbers for women were 91 kcal. while running, and 43 kcal. while walking. This means that the running helps us to burn two times more calories than walking.
